What is the relationship between racing and Christmas decorations?

I worked my first race event this past weekend and was wondering why so many of the RV’s were decorated with Christmas Decorations. There was even a man dressed as Santa both night walking around.

Are giving Christmas decorations as a gift 2 days after Christmas in poor taste ?

A friend gave me my Christmas gift two days after, and it ended up being Christmas Decorations for my tree. No doubt there was a great sale on these after Christmas, but does this gift also lack imagination ?

First of all, whatever happened to "it’s the thought that counts?" How do you "know" that he/she bought the gift after Christmas? My family has exchanged gifts after Christmas before and I’ve gotten Christmas ornaments; I put them up and used them the next year. Unless this is your last Christmas, what harm is there in getting the ornaments later?
