thinking of installing some aquarium moon lights?

i’m talking about the little LED’S that go in the aquarium.
do fish think its basically lights out and come out as they would if the lights were off? eg catfish synodontis that kinda stuff?
also is there a way of making them yourself like old Christmas lights?

That’s pretty much how it works. Nocturnal light influences fish, coral, and other activity just as much as sunlight. Adding these "moon lights" (hence the name) allows you to view your nocturnal inhabitants without disturbing them.

I like your idea on the DIY Christmas Lights, but I don’t think they are going to give you what your looking for. The LEDs companies make, have specific colors, which will penetrate the water column, giving you better "moon glow".

Browse around on ebay, there are all sorts of inexpensive lunar lights.
